COLLEGE BOUND

Gregory and Gully off to College

by Jessica Miyagi

Libby Gregory and Megan Gully are our seniors this year at Miyagi Gymnastics academy and are finishing up their last year before they graduate high school and go off to college. The two of them will continue their gymnastics careers into college. Gregory will be competing for Seattle Pacific University's Women's Gymnastics Team while Gully is hoping to compete as a specialist for UC Davis next year.

Our Juniors this year Annie Penrose and Erin Wipperman are attending the College Bound invitational in Kissimmee, Florida May 15th in hopes of offers of full scholarships from schools around the country. This competition's spectators are not the regular crowd, but all of the college gymnastics coaches from around the country!

Good luck in college and beyond!

FAR FROM INJURY

Written by Jessica Miyagi

Watching Level 10s, Annie Penrose and Erin Wipperman at the Region One Championships, one would never guess how far they have come from a rough last season. Both had to take over three months off of training after the two received injuries this last year, then they returned to qualify to the Regional Championships and for Erin Wipperman to the J.O National Championships.

It is quite unheard of in the gymnastics world for a gymnast to make such a successful recovery in such a short amount of time. We want to congratulate the both of them in overcoming adversity. This experience has proved that these girls will be able to rise far above any hurdles that come along in their future.
